O SHOT
What is the O Shot for Sexual Health?
The O Shot is a non-surgical and minimally invasive procedure that involves injecting platelet-rich plasma (PRP) into the vaginal area. Women may call this an ‘o shot’, for orgasm or as we say ‘Opis’ the greek goddess of sexuality. The treatment is intended to improve sexual function and sexual pleasure in women. For sexual health of women, we offer the O Shot as one injection or a series of injections over a few weeks.
What are results for the O Shot for Sexual Health?
Patient satisfaction is high with these treatments. Some improve their sexual responsiveness or sensation even within hours of treatment, with results that last several months or more. Others report improved appearance of skin tone and elasticity.
Others ask for the O Shot to improve dryness, mild incontinence, or aged appearance of female intimate areas. We have seen improvements in some or all of these areas for individual patients. However individual results vary and are not guaranteed as with any treatment.
What is PRP?
The O shot is made of your own platelet rich plasma or PRP, which is a sample of your own plasma. We simply centrifuge this plasma to concentrate the growth factors. We then inject the PRP using tiny needles in a well tolerated, non surgical office based procedure.
PRP and the O shot have names that come and go, but PRP injections have a variety of treatment uses, over many decades, and now most recently for sexual health.
What are potential benefits of the O Shot?
-
Increased sexual desire: improving blood flow to the area and enhancing sensitivity of the clitoris.
-
Improved orgasm intensity: injection may stimulate nerve growth or responsiveness and enhance blood flow to the clitoris.
-
Decreased pain during intercourse: it can help improve vaginal lubrication and decrease pain.
-
Enhanced vaginal sensitivity: help improve vaginal sensitivity, leading to increased pleasure during sexual activity.
-
Non-invasive: non-surgical and minimally invasive using the patient’s own platelet-rich plasma, meaning no risk of rejection or allergic reaction.
What are risks to the O Shot?
Risks include pain, infection, bleeding, scars, or unforeseen risks. These are very rare and usually temporary as PRP injection uses your own blood with very fine needles. Alternatives we offer include Thermiva and these injections are often combined with Thermiva for added benefits.
